Notes and abbreviations:
These pages include some of the programs have been mentioned in ACF posts. Several thousand programs are listed. Minor differences in spelling, hyphenation etc. sometimes have a large affect on the alphabetical location. Use "find" or the Google search box to locate programs quickly.
Pricelessware programs past and present are listed. The PW column shows the most recent year a program was selected for the Pricelessware List. An x following the PL year indicates a program was removed during the year (most commonly because it became $ware).
Column I shows installation and interface information:
n.i. = no install,
n.r. = no registry entries,
CLI = Command Line Interface
Column W notes ware status changes:
LFW = last freeware version (the program has been abandoned or discontinued or become $ware).
$W = no longer freeware (no last freeware version available).
NR = NOT RECOMMENDED (search Google's archive of ACF posts for more information)
Notes column: The notes pages are in ACF's wiki. Links are provided for all programs to facilitate creation of the pages. If a notes page exists it will be shown when you click on the link. If you click a link to a non-existent page the wiki assumes you want to create/edit that page and you will see a login message. (Any ACF participant can create/edit the notes pages. Post a question in the newsgroup if you need how-to information.)
