Description: Notepad++ is a free source code editor (and Notepad replacement), which supports several programming languages. COMMENTS (by BeAr): Multipurpose text (ANSI, UTF-8, CS-2) editor, developed on basis of the Scintilla engine. Supports tabbed windows, syntax highlighting, bookmarks, folding, auto completion, and zooming. Text input direction can be changed to RTL (e.g. for Arabic, Hebrew). Additional functionality provided with plugins. The main program already contains plugins for advanced text editing, visualization, and conversation, a function browser, a file manager and a hex editor.
Powerful search functionality is provided by the main program (RegEx search and replace, incremental search, highlight all, find in files) and extended with a plugin (multiline RegEx). Recurring tasks may be simplified using the internal macro recorder. Notepad++ is highly customizable with external configuration files, styler configurator, user define dialog for new languages, and shortcut mapper.
