Description: WinDirStat is a disk usage statistics viewer and cleanup tool for MS Windows. WinDirStat reads the whole directory tree once and then presents it in three useful views: the directory list, which resembles the tree view of the Windows Explorer but is sorted by file/subtree size; the treemap, which shows the whole contents of the directory tree straight away; the extension list, which serves as a legend and shows statistics about the file types.

Description: Memtest86 is a thorough, stand alone memory test for x86 architecture computers. BIOS based memory tests are only a quick check and often miss many of the failures that are detected by Memtest86. Since Memtest86 is a standalone program it does not require any operating system support for execution. It can be used with any PC regardless of what operating system, if any, is installed. The test image may be loaded from a floppy disk or may be loaded via LILO on Linux systems. Any Unix, Windows or DOS system may be used to create a boot floppy or bootable CDROM.

Description: Ever wondered which program has a particular file or directory open? Now you can find out. Process Explorer shows you information about which handles and DLLs processes have opened or loaded. The Process Explorer display consists of two sub-windows. The top window always shows a list of the currently active processes, including the names of their owning accounts, whereas the information displayed in the bottom window depends on the mode that Process Explorer is in: if it is in handle mode you'll see the handles that the process selected in the top window has opened; if Process Explorer is in DLL mode you'll see the DLLs and memory-mapped files that the process has loaded. Process Explorer also has a powerful search capability that will quickly show you which processes have particular handles opened or DLLs loaded. The unique capabilities of Process Explorer make it useful for tracking down DLL-version problems or handle leaks, and provide insight into the way Windows and applications work.

Description: This utility, which has the most comprehensive knowledge of auto-starting locations of any startup monitor, shows you what programs are configured to run during system bootup or login, and shows you the entries in the order Windows processes them. Description: Partition Saving is a DOS program that is used to save, restore and copy hard-drive, partitions, floppy disk and DOS devices. With this program you could save all data on a partition to a file (such as you could save this file on a CD for example). Then if something goes wrong, you can completely restore the partition from the backup file. You no longer have to reinstall every piece of software from scratch. All you have to do is restore the partition from the backup file and then update any software that was modified since the backup was created.

Description: Total Uninstall can help you to monitor any changes that were made to your system during installation of a new software product and allow you to perform a complete uninstall without having to rely on the supplied uninstall program (which may leave files or changes behind). To use it, you simply launch the installation program from the Total Uninstall interface and select the system areas to be monitored. The program will then create a snapshot of your system before it installs the new software and an additional snapshot after install completes. It then compares the two snapshots and displays all changes in a graphical tree view, marking all values and/or files that have been added or changed as well as some before/after details. Total Uninstall will save these changes and if you decide to uninstall the application, it will reverse all changes to the previous state.

Description: IEradicator is a tiny ASCII script that removes Internet Explorer versions 3 through 6.0., either because you don't want it or because you want a clean basis for an upgrade. It is NOT a complete removal, however, as they say in the manual - "The removal process eliminates 99% of Internet Explorer's files and registry keys to clear approximately 30MB of disk space. The remaining 1% is left behind to maintain compatibility with programs that use the MS HTML layout engine (e.g. Outlook Express)... After an IEradicator removal you have a clean foundation onto which you can install a more recent version of IE and the result is likely to be a smoother install and more stable final product when compared to an upgrade installation.... Severe problems and Operating system Crashes can be solved by removing IE with IEradicator and then reinstalling IE again (if that's your choice) from the source files." NOTES: IEradicator contains two versions. One version keeps all the web view shell integration intact, and the other takes all of that out for a lean and fast desktop environment COMMENTS: Easy to use and small, Eradicator will do all the work you need to do the job. Just click and re-boot when it tells you to. When your computer comes back on it has already finished it's job. It's that simple. A small issue with a few file associations that can be easily fixed by the user is the only bug I have come across.

Description: A small utility that has been developed with the sole intention of allowing users to view and modify the uninstall string for installed programs without having to enter the registry, and additionally allow simple removal of such programs from a simple to use interface. PUI additionally identifies programs that cannot be uninstalled, and lets you know if this is the case, without the need for extra long hours spent looking on authors homepages, just to be told "you can't remove it". As an added bonus, PUI has been setup to detect certain spyware and adware components and let you know if these are installed, and if applicable, remove them, without having to call in the big boy's (although, it is always reccomended to keep your Antivirus and Anti-spyware software uptodate, and to run a scan on your system on a daily basis, just incase). IMPORTANT: Although PUI is able to detect certain malware, it is NOT an anti-malware application and thus, should not be treated as such.

Description: XXCOPY is a command line utility for easily backing up files and folders. It provides more that 200 advanced features for even the most seasoned user. Probably the most popular use of XXCOPY is as disk- cloning tool. It can duplicate an entire system drive that can boot Window 9X/ME (though not NT/2000/XP). When converting files with long file names to the DOS 8.3 file-name convention, XXCOPY handles the long file name correctly and doesn't give the two files the same 8.3 name. XXCOPY can be used to synchronize directories and overwrite read-only files. With XXCOPY, you can back up up directories incrementally without the use of archive bit. Exclude directories or files from copying by wild cards. Qualify file by file date/time (Before, On, or After). Copy hidden/system files. Flatten a directory tree into files in one directory.
