Process Monitor: Memory RAMpage
(Freeware) (open source)
OS: Windows 9x/ME/NT/2000/XP
Languages: English
Description: RAMpage is a small Windows utility that displays the amount of available memory in an icon in the System Tray. It can also free memory; by double clicking the tray icon, or by setting a threshold that activates the program automatically, or by having it run automatically when an application exits. Under certain circumstances, freeing memory may improve the stability of Windows 95, and possibly also Windows 98 and ME. In theory, RAMpage shouldn't make any difference if you are using Windows NT, 2000 or XP, though I have had some reports that suggest it helps. RAMpage frees memory automatically, on demand, or after an application finishes running. Very low active memory footprint, and very low resource and CPU usage. Can run "hidden", which further reduces memory and resource usage. Can be run from a batch file, or via a shortcut, to free memory on a "once off" basis. Easy to install, configure and automate.

(desc. rev.: x)My Own Backup (MOB)
(Freeware)
OS: Windows 9x
Languages: English
Description: My Own Backup is an easy and powerful backup program. It supports most computer media, including CD-RW, Zip and Jaz disks, even floppies. You can store the backed-up files uncompressed for easy access, or compressed in .zip format for more efficient storage. The Explorer-like interface enables you to select files with ease, and a backup log helps you keep track of each transaction. Backups are performed in sets, so you can back up all of your data at one time, or break it down into specific categories. Like most programs, you can have the program back up at certain intervals, or drag and drop files manually. Other features include diskspan, backup multiple sets simultaneously, auto-save backup sets, password-protect backups, command-line support, and much more. The program is for local devices only, and cannot be used with network drives.

(Requestware)
OS: Windows 98/ME/NT/2000/XP
Languages: English
Description: PolderBackup is getting serious! Because of overwhelming response to my call for support of the Polderweg Animal Wellfare organization, where I got my cat Chita, I decided to develop this version to celebrate their 100th anniversary. It can zip and unzip now, comes with a restore function. PolderBackup is an easy to use backup tool with a good array of features that will meet most basic backup needs. You can select directories and files to be backed up and save them as templates, so you can keep multiple backup sets and only start the one you need. The program supports recursive directories, file filters and moving redundant files to the recycle bin. Your backup process is clearly documented, all steps of the way are logged and accessible from the interface. That way you can be certain that the backup was successful. Very easy to use. Supports command line options, and is very pro-cats!

(Freeware) (open source)
OS: Windows 9x/ME/NT/2000/XP
Languages: English (Dutch, French and German installation support)
Description: Burn to the Brim (BTTB) is a utility that determines how to ideally fit files and folders on a CD or other medium. It is designed to find near perfect solutions within seconds. BTTB works by analyzing the files and folders in a folder you specify, and grouping them in the best possible way. Probably the most popular use of BTTB is to fit MP3 files onto the fewest CDs possible. The program is not a CD burning tool; it cannot actually burn the files; however, you can drag the results straight to the burning program.

Operating System FreeBSD
(Donationware)
OS:
Languages: English
Description: FreeBSD is an advanced operating system for x86 compatible, DEC Alpha, IA-64, PC-98 and UltraSPARC architectures. FreeBSD makes an ideal Internet or Intranet server. It provides robust network services under the heaviest loads and uses memory efficiently to maintain good response times for thousands of simultaneous user processes. The quality of FreeBSD combined with today's low-cost, high-speed PC hardware makes FreeBSD a very economical alternative to commercial UNIX workstations. It is well-suited for a great number of both desktop and server applications. FreeBSD can be installed from a variety of media including CD-ROM, DVD-ROM, floppy disk, magnetic tape, an MS-DOS partition, or if you have a network connection, you can install it directly over anonymous FTP or NFS.
