Probably the most popular use of XXCOPY is as disk- cloning tool. It can duplicate an entire system drive that can boot Window 9X/ME (though not NT/2000/XP). When converting files with long file names to the DOS 8.3 file-name convention, XXCOPY handles the long file name correctly and doesn't give the two files the same 8.3 name. XXCOPY can be used to synchronize directories and overwrite read-only files. With XXCOPY, you can back up up directories incrementally without the use of archive bit. Description: RAMpage is a small Windows utility that displays the amount of available memory in an icon in the System Tray. It can also free memory; by double clicking the tray icon, or by setting a threshold that activates the program automatically, or by having it run automatically when an application exits. Under certain circumstances, freeing memory may improve the stability of Windows 95, and possibly also Windows 98 and ME. Description: Partition Saving is a DOS program that is used to save, restore and copy hard-drive, partitions, floppy disk and DOS devices. With this program you could save all data on a partition to a file (such as you could save this file on a CD for example). Then if something goes wrong, you can completely restore the partition from the backup file. You no longer have to reinstall every piece of software from scratch. All you have to do is restore the partition from the backup file and then update any software that was modified since the backup was created.

Description: Cygwin is a UNIX environment for Windows. It consists of two parts: A DLL (cygwin1.dll) which acts as a UNIX emulation layer providing substantial UNIX API functionality and a collection of tools, ported from UNIX, which provide UNIX/Linux look and feel. The setup.exe utility tracks the versions of all installed components and provides the mechanism for installing or updating everything. Run this program any time you want to install a cygwin package. Note also that, by default, setup.exe does not install everything. Only the base cygwin distribution is installed by default. When running setup.exe, clicking on categories and packages in the package installation screen will provide you with the ability to control what is installed or updated. For instance, clicking on the "Default" field next to the "All" category will provide you with the opportunity to install every Cygwin package. Be advised that this will download and install hundreds of megabytes to your computer. The best plan is probably to click on individual categories and install either entire categories or packages from the categories themselves.
