NOMINATIONS

The Pricelessware List is the compilation of the favorite Freeware programs of the readers of alt.comp.freeware. The programs picked are not meant to be an exhaustive list of the best available Freeware, but rather an answer to the often asked "which _____ is best?" Most of the previous listings are well-known, but there are a few more obscure, yet worthy of mention, programs.

VOTING

We are selecting the best of the best in Windows programs.

As we are voting for individual programs, the only criteria anyone should be using is whether the program is one of the best Freeware programs available. The sub-categories are provided for ease of reference, but it is NOT the goal of the Pricelessware vote to come up with a program to fit every category.

Vote *only* for the programs that you feel merit inclusion on the list. If you want to vote for 3 different e-mail programs because you believe all 3 deserve to be on the list, then vote for those 3. Conversely, if in your opinion none of the programs listed merit inclusion, do not cast a vote.

You will see that some programs are listed in 2 separate categories. This was done so that people who do not choose to vote in every category would be able to cast a vote for those programs that are cross-referenced. If you are voting for them in one category, you do not need to vote for them again.

The listing of programs in the final list is a separate exercise. e-mail clients, for example, can easily be broken down into sub-categories according to their ability to delete from the server. Unless both programs are selected for inclusion, it is premature to make that separation now. We can take all of this up during the discussion phase after the vote closes.

FINAL SELECTION

Any program which failed to get more than 1 vote does not qualify for inclusion on the PL.

In categories where several programs received enough votes to qualify, only the top vote getters will be picked for the 2003 PL.

If you find that there is a glaring omission, please post it in the appropriate thread. If there is support for inclusion, an overlooked program will be added to the list.
